The Dolomites
A UNESCO World Heritage landscape of vertical rose-gold towers, via ferratas, and the legendary Alta Via routes across the most dramatic rock scenery in the Alps.
The Dolomites are unlike any other mountains on Earth. Carved from ancient coral reefs by millennia of erosion, their vertical towers of pale limestone turn rose and gold at sunrise and sunset — a phenomenon the locals call the Enrosadira. Walking here feels theatrical, as if the mountains were designed for the sole purpose of inspiring awe.
Our Dolomites program centers on the classic Alta Via routes — long-distance trails threading between the great massifs of the Sella, Marmolada, and Tre Cime di Lavaredo. We walk sections chosen for their combination of scenery and accessibility, staying in comfortable rifugios where hearty Ladin and Tyrolean food is served at long communal tables.
We also explore the quieter eastern Dolomites around Cortina d'Ampezzo and the Pale di San Martino, away from the best-known tourist circuits. The Dolomites reward those who venture a little further.
