Difficulté et condition physique

The tour caters to all levels. Scenic, memorable hikes can be arranged for beginners, intermediates and advanced hikers alike. National park trails are, however, more strenuous. Valley lake walks are easy and suitable for all levels. The Piz Languard summit (3,262 m) is a strenuous full-day effort.

Où dormir

St. Moritz offers world-class luxury; Sils Maria and Pontresina are quieter and more affordable alternatives with a genuine mountain atmosphere. Mountain huts inside the national park provide a rustic overnight experience.

Description

The Engadin is Switzerland's highest and sunniest inhabited valley, sitting at around 1,800 m above sea level in the canton of Graubünden. Known globally for St. Moritz, it is far more than a winter playground — in summer it transforms into one of the most beautiful walking landscapes in the Alps.

The valley's jewel is the series of turquoise lakes: Lake St. Moritz, Lake Silvaplana, and Lake Sils, all reflecting the surrounding peaks on calm mornings. The Swiss National Park, just to the east, offers strictly protected wilderness where ibex, chamois, and eagles are commonly encountered.

We explore the valleys of Rosegg and Morteratsch, where we will come face-to-face with immense glacial flows streaming down from 13,000 feet. The peak Corvatsch with its sweeping views over the Bernina Range and further into Austria will be another highlight of the tour.

For centuries, painters have travelled to the Engadin to capture its extraordinary light on canvas, while poets and philosophers have searched for words to describe what often seems beyond description—the unique magic of the Engadin.
