Difficoltà e preparazione

Essential Slovenia combines gentle lakeside walks with more strenuous mountain days. The tour is suitable for hikers who are comfortable walking at least 5 miles per day with approximately 1,200 feet of elevation gain.

Dove si dorme

Lake Bohinj's historic hotels provide elegant, comfortable accommodations, while carefully selected eco-lodges in the Soča Valley offer an equally comfortable yet authentically rural Slovenian experience.

Descrizione

Slovenia is one of Europe's best-kept secrets: a small country with a big alpine heart. The Julian Alps in the northwest corner form the centrepiece of Triglav National Park, named after the country's highest peak (2,864 m) and the symbol on the Slovenian flag. The park covers nearly 4% of Slovenia's entire territory and contains some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in Central Europe.

Lake Bled, with its clifftop castle and island church, is Slovenia's most recognizable landmark, but the country's alpine landscapes extend far beyond its famous shoreline. The emerald Soča River winds through deep limestone valleys, while the Vršič Pass, Slovenia's highest mountain road, reveals sweeping views across the Julian Alps. Along the park's western frontier, hiking trails cross former First World War battlefields, where traces of the region's rich Italian heritage remain woven into the landscape.

Our Essential Slovenia tour combines the country's iconic landscapes with quieter corners beyond the main tourist trail. From the elegant capital of Ljubljana to the peaceful shores of Lake Bohinj and the wild beauty of the Soča Valley, it offers a memorable introduction to one of Europe's most rewarding hiking destinations.
